ABOUT

The effort to more fully explore the “Limited Liability Trusts” terminology is initially being led by Spencer E. Adler - a Washington DC attorney.

There is no profit motive, and there is no hidden agenda. Adler is not selling investments, insurance, or software. Nor is he applying for patents or trademarks. This is a philanthropic contribution to the community of trusts professionals in America. If trusts experts continue to welcome the project, the relevant website and other assets will be contributed to an appropriate legal structure.

Adler’s relevant history is as a former practitioner of estate planning law for UHNWI and philanthropists with the Weidenfeld Law Firm in Washington, DC.

In parallel to that work, he has had a long career as a catalytic leader in diverse contexts. He built a group of companies that developed low pollution automotive technology, co-founded a company that developed low pollution cleaning technology, and co-founded the first synthetic biology venture fund, among other activities.

Highlights of his career include co-producing a documentary film with PBS (with music by Radiohead), and delivering the keynote address to the 2020 annual meeting of the Family Office Association.

He continues to manage a number of special purpose investment vehicles, serve as trustee of a number of trusts, and fulfill a variety of philanthropic roles.

The “Limited Liability Trusts” name is one he began using in casual conversation, simply because names like Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs) proved challenging for non-lawyers to understand or remember.
